As I read the book Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn I noticed the main character is Cyd Charisse. Integrity I think is when you stand up for what you believe in. Integrity is someone who has good character, with all of the qualities like honesty, respect, just being a good role model basically. Cyd Charisse shows integrity in this book, and here is the problems she faced and how she dealt with them.
One of the problems Cyd faced was her and her mom do not I mean do not get along very well. When you first read Gingerbread you would think that Cyd isn't that very nice and does not show integrity at all. Even though she got pregnant at the age 16, but got an abortion! Her and her mom argue about everything. Because of Cyds pregnancy her mom does not think she can be trusted and she thinks whatever Cyd does is wrong. Her mom Nancy doesn't like her boyfriend "Shrimp" either. Even though he's very polite to Nancy calls her Mrs. Charisse. Cyd doesn't like her mom so much she doesn't even call her mom she calls her by her real name, Nancy. Cyd handled the problem pretty well. Her mom would just say smart remarks then they would all of a sudden get in a huge fight. Cyd tries hard to be a good girl like her mom desperately wants her to be. But if Cyd ask's to go places and her mom says no Cyd goes and does it anyway. Yeah you are probably thinking how can she show integrity? But she does you will find that out soon. Cyd then gets kicked out of Boarding school, and she tried to get kicked out because she hates going to school with just girls. So when it became summer they sent her away to see her father for the first time in New York. While Cyd stays there her and her mom talk on the phone and her mom comes and visits. But time apart with Cyd and Nancy just got them closer to have a mother daughter relationship.
Another problem in Gingerbread is that Cyd hasn't seen her dad before, well onl
