CHANGE: FOREVER A GLOBAL TREND

             With the rise of industrialisation and capitalism, the importance attached to innovation grew, and social and political upheavals and pressures often forced change by violent revolution (as in North America in the late 18th century and in later imitators). By the late 20th century much business and New Age thought focussed enthusiastically on transformation in management, in function and in mental attitudes (Wikipedia 2004). Change is a global trend that doesn't stop. It's like a locomotive. It is through change that we learn, grow, and evolve. Change is often met by obstacles, delays, and trauma because we, as human beings, go to great lengths to resist it. We like things to remain constant because it's comfortable, safe and secure and it's what we know. So when change raises its head, it is only natural that we are not always willing to acknowledge that the time has come to move on. There's nothing permanent except change (Pink 6).
             This paper's focus is on the global trend of change effecting both the U.S. and India with regards to outsourcing. Both regions are going through a transformation in jobs and tradition. The U.S. is exporting jobs leaving individuals faced with looking for new opportunities. Consequently, India is importing these jobs where they are spending less time with their families, thereby exposing them to unexplored options that may be in conflict with traditional values. "The New Face of the Silicon Age" by Daniel Pink epitomizes the plight of the American IT worker and the havoc outsourcing is imposing on their lives. Pink, however, will argue that this could be a equitable for both the U.S and India. "Call of the West: For India's Youth...'Little Gentlemen' Loosens Up" by Joanna Slater describes the price India is paying for this new found opportunity and the shedding of old traditions for modern ways.
