             The character shadrack's personality was kind of crazy. He used to see things that was not there. He also did a lot of things that plain out just did not make any sense which made him seem like a psychopath. The people seen him as a crazy dude who never really causes any harm to any body, but they rather not be around him when he comes around for his yearly self proclaimed holiday in which he called " National Suicide Day", because they didn't take his craziness to lightly.
             Shadrack was described to be a handsome young man who was an ex-vietnam veteran who had went crazy after he left the war. Duringthe war with all those crazy things happening, for example seeing a guy get his head blown off and seeing his headless body still running for a second before falling, I believe seeing that would make anyone snap and go crazy. After seeing many horrific sights in the war, the story jumps to Shadrack waking up to find himself laying a hospital bed. He looks around and sees his food laying in a pan right beside begin to think and he suddenly calms down, that is when I think reality kicks and things are normal for just a second, but for only a second. When he lifts his hands out of his blanket to examine his hand to see if everything is still attached properly, he suddenly begins to notice his hands are growing at a "higgledy-piggledy fashion like jack's beanstalk all over the trey and bed". That was when reality is kicked out and he begin to "see the light". The light being that this character here is real crazy. Every time shadrack looks at his hands they being to grow until he puts back under the blanket. This tells me that Shadrack has suffered some trauma while he was in the war, it also lets me know that there are going to be a lot things that are going to happen to him and every one around.
