When discussing abortion there are two views, pro-life, which means you believe abortion is not a good thing. If you are pro-choice then you believe that women have the right to decide weather or not they should abort the pregnancy. I believe that a woman should have a choice to choose what is best for her and her baby.
             On average, one out of every two women in the United States have an abortion. They believe that they are exercising their basic human rights. I believe they are right. For instance, what kind of life would a child with a 16-year-old mother still in high school live? What kind of life would the mother lead? I don't believe abortion should be promoted, yet I do believe that proper care should be available for women if she decides that abortion is best for her and her unborn child.
             In New York State, every four out of ten counties have no free contraceptive or abortion providers. About two and a-half million women in New York State need contraceptive services and supplies. Even for women who have clinics in their areas, fourteen percent of women in our state have no health insurance; and many women have Medicare, which will not cover an abortion. I believe that if services where more easily accessible many problems could be solved. By decreasing the number of unwanted pregnancies things such as welfare, and foster parenting could be helped. For example, a woman may have to apply and receive welfare benefits to support a child born from an unwanted pregnancy. This puts a strain on our economy. The women may have the child and decide she cannot care for it properly. She could then put the child up for adoption. Care centers have to be created to care for these children who will grow up without or never knowing their real parents. Would you want a child of yours growing up without his or her real parents?
