Curfew

             Many states here in the U.S. have proposed teen curfew laws. The teen curfew laws generally differ from county to county within states. The real problem that many propose is whether the government should be able to "parent teens" and advise them when to be home. Many feel that it's not necessary because teens will still do what they want to do whether they need to be home by a certain hour. It's up to their parents really to tell them when to come home. A teen can be out getting food in a public place and be arrested or ticketed for not really doing anything wrong. It just ends up costing their parents money and the teen time devoted to clearing up the whole mess. Just that ticket alone can cause in individual inconvenience and the person may not have even been doing something wrong. Is the law really going to stop millions of teens from crimes and protect them by making them go home or are they really just making an inconvenience for something that isn't really necessary? I have many friends that were at parties or out and about past midnight and got tickets for it when there was nothing harmless be committed by them. This just seems a little bit extreme and maybe cops have too much time on their hands if this is really something they need to enforce.
             On the other side of that coin it seems that by getting teens off of the streets hopefully crime will go down. Most crimes that happen at night don't happen at eight or nine in the evening. They happen late at night when teens are just trying to find something to do. Teens tend to get themselves into trouble more so past the midnight hour then before. Also, safety is supposedly another reason for teen curfews. In general crimes where people are taken advantage of or anything that causes harm to people seem to happen in the night at nighttime.
