y convincing many people that the moon landings actually occurred. One person in particular is Bill Kaysing who is the original theorist behind the moon theories. Kaysing used to work as a technical editor for Rocketdyne, a company involved with the construction of lunar landing modules. Kaysing claimed "NASA carried out a feasibility study which found they had only a 0.0017 percent chance of landing a man on the moon and returning him to earth...... it was impossible for NASA go from a 0.0017 to 100 percent in 1969" (qtd. in "Why would NASA...." 1). Many others believe it is impossible to make such an enormous jump in only a few years. Kaysing also believes that the technology at the time was not sophisticated enough. Ralph Rene, another conspiracy theorist, who has written his own book on the faked Apollo moon landings claims "NASA realized they did not have the technology to take men safely to the moon by the end of the 1960's, they resorted to faking the lunar landings (qtd. in "Why would NASA...." 2). This is stated to be the main reason NASA would have staged the moon landings.
             It is true that the technology used for the Apollo missions was limited. Kaysing explains, "The technology used to fly Apollo 11 to the moon was extremely primitive compared with today's standards. In fact, the on-board computer had less memory than a modern washing machine" (qtd. in "Why would NASA....." 1). Kaysing goes on to explain, "I really believe that the body of evidence proves, beyond any doubt, that no way could we have gotten to the moon, the technology did not exist in 1969, and it certainly doesn't exist today."
