             Esperanza Rising was written by Pam Munoz Ryan. It has 262 pages. It is a fiction book.
             Esperanza lived on a ranch, had the perfect family, had the perfect dresses, and even had servants. She always
             believed that everything would the same. Mama and Papa would never leave her side and that she would always
             live in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Until one day when Papa took a trip,everything changed.He was running late and
             Esperanza and Mama were getting worried. Hortensia, the servant whom had become like a best friend, and
             Abuelita who was Esperanza's grandmother, tried to calm them. She was turning thirteen the next day, and wanted
             Papa to be there. Papa's selfish and rude stepbrothers came with no sign of Papa. Then Mama saw the light of a
             lantern through the window. It was Alfonso and Miguel, the servant Hortensia's Husband and son, and Papa's best
             friends. They reported terrible news that Papa had died by bandits near the fence he was mending. Almost
             everyone came to the three-day funeral for him. They brought tons of food and flowers. Tio' Luis, one of Papa's
             stepbrothers, came and asked Mama to consider marrying him since Papa died. So she said no, of course. He is
             very powerful and could make the rest of their lives very uneasy.After all of this, Miguel went outside with
             Esperanza and announced that his family may be moving to Califonia soon! It is Esperanza's birthday, but it is no
             fun at all. Every year since Esperanza was a baby, Papa gave her a special doll. This year, it was one that Papa had
             bought before he died. It was a very pretty porcelain doll with a pink dress. When Esperanza went to sleep that
             night, she was having a horrible nightmare. She awoke to her Mama's voice saying, "Esperanza, wake up, the
             house is on fire!" Esperanza grabbed the doll and ran outside. Everyone was okay, but Abuelita hur...
