I will discuss science, superstition, and magic and it correlation with "Coldfeet and the Queen of Lonesome Island. Then, I will take "The Venerable Bede" and apply the same questions of science, superstition, and magic to evaluate its close relationship with magic and religion. In doing so one may understand differences in the writer's thoughts and beliefs during this time period. I will also provide my attitude towards the topic and how the writer might influence the audience by using these genres.
             "Coldfeet and the Queen of Lonesome Island" is a brilliant example of the use of magic, superstition, and science to capture the readers' interest, and engulf them in a vivid environment. The writers' attitude towards this topic seems to be one of acceptance. Meaning that the writer uses these ideas to explore, entertain and enrich the readers mind by allowing a sense of fantasy to overwhelm them. For example, a young boy growing ever so largely to the extent of leaving home to provide for himself. This would not have been an everyday event in the past or now. This picture painted by the author provides a doorway into fantasy from the beginning of the story. These attitudes portray a writer that is deeply educated in religion. This is evident by the capability of writing a story that differs from the normal sentiment of religion in the 16th century. This also offers insight to a world fascinated with new and unusual thinking.
             The author stirs the audience with such unimaginable ideas, such as coldfeet growing enourmously, the ages of men from 700 to 2000 years old. I believe the author is very successful in stirring the audiences' emotion by supplying great and unimaginable ideas.
