A&P was a very descriptive piece of writing, which is about a boy working at a local grocery store. He describes the people he encounters working there. He comes upon a problem. He has been working at the checkout center and notices a group of girls walking in with just their bathing suits on for a few visits. The manager one day saw these girls and kicked them out. So he decides to quit on the spot to hopefully meet the girls.
             The everyday life of his job describes perfectly the way I think and feel. There are a couple of girls that come into my work every week hoping they will notice me. I find myself standing there daydreaming about where they live, how old they are, and etc. These girls never seem to look at me until about 2 months ago; one smiled at me and asked where the bathrooms were. I got so excited that I actually called one of my friends and told him they talked to me.
             The guy from A&P was very intelligent. He described everything so descriptful. He made the reader actually picture the scenario in his/her head; "She had sort of oaky hair that the sun and salt had bleached, done up in a bun that was unraveling, and a prim face". That is one passage from the story that made one of the characters face in perfect description.
             The writing he does is very unique. The more descriptive a story is the better it is because the thoughts and pictures become more clear in your head. The feelings that John Updike puts behind his work in this story are just superior.
