source of power for the Machines to run off caused by the humans in the real world setting off a nuclear bomb that destroyed the atmosphere, Neo begins his journey to discover that he is "the one" a person sent by man kind to set free and over power the Machines, his uncertainty in his self belief that he is the one takes us through out the film as he starts to understand his potential. The Matrix is a Sci-fi mixed martial art film mixed with many issues and addresses a mind provoking thought.
             During the Fight sequence the first thing to take note of is the appearance within the Matrix. Outside in the 'real' world the characters are dirty and casual in their dress code with rips in their clothing covered in oil and dust, whilst in the Matrix their clothes are clean and their appearance is the, "imagery construct of ones self." This in itself shows the imitation of the real world, everything is stylised to what the AI believe to be real to the humans, as the polluted bleak reality indicated the deconstruction of the human race and the breakdown of control due to the technology that the humans created for their own practicalities overtaking them, all indicating post-modern thought. Noticeably changes in lighting are evident through out this scene, we are taken back and forth to the 'real' world. Regarding the Mise en scene, the lighting here is a tinted blue illustrating the harsh realities of the world with dark shadows and lower lighting, whilst back in the Matrix the tint is green representing that of a computer system, the clean lighting illustrating a controlled video game finish. Also the stylistic film Noir look of the lighting during the fight sequence with harsh shadows slanting across the back wall giving the feeling of structure with the accompanied parallel lines on the floor leading up to the two characters about to start their training.
