My Life in Silence

English as well as sign language. My daughter is too young now to learn sign language, but we are able to communicate through facial expressions and pokes and squeezes.
             I buckle my kids into their car seats as I prepare to drop my son off at his first day of pre-school. As I drive down the road I look in my mirror and see a giant smile spreading across my son's face . I can tell just how excited he is to experience his first day of school. We walk into his classroom, covered in pictures and artwork, and I see his eyes light up. Slowly all the children gather in circle as the parents file out of the room. I can see children saying by to their mothers and fathers, some cry, afraid to leave their parents for the first time. As I walk out the room I take one last look back and my eyes fill with tears.
