ar about a crime, people visualize a minority. This is obviously not true but it is one of the main reasons racial profiling is happening. Until people are aware of this situation, minorities are going to continuously be discriminated against. The effect racial profiling has on minorities is tremendous. The fact that you could be killed or harassed every time you're driving is scary. Since when is someone supposed to be scared for their life every time they see a police officer? Every man is supposed to be equal, but until racial profiling ends we will continue to have a biased country. With every interaction with the police, minorities feel their livelihood is being threatened. The emergence of crack didn't help the situation either.
             In the spring of 1986, exaggerated press accounts of inner-city crack use brought a period of intense public concern about illegal drugs and helped reinforce the impression that drug use was primarily a minority problem. Enforcement of the nation's drug laws at the street level focused more and more on poor minority communities of color. Many cities initiated major law enforcement programs to deal with street level drug dealing. Operation Pressure Point in New York, Operation Invincible in Memphis, Operation Clean Sweep in Chicago, Operation Hammer in Los Angeles, and Operation Red Dog in Atlanta all targeted poor, minority, urban neighborhoods.
