Danger, Authority, and Efficiency in Policing

have been with the department for several years. These senior officers may not have any educational experience, however they strongly support the agency. The second group of officers can be described as new officers. Most new officers have some type of college experience and usually support the patrol units. Traditional officers also make up a high number of patrol units, but new officers accompany them.
             This is done for training experience, usually formal or informal. Traditional officers maintain the higher knowledge of how to handle the job avoiding danger or injuries. New officers are more likely to be injured or put in risk of danger due to their lack of knowledge on the job. New officers observe and take in traditional ways-to know their job and gain respect in the culture. In this culture comes a strong socialization agency.
             Socialization is a major factor among families and between officers. Since most time is spent at the agency, socialization occurs on the job and off.
