Since that time there have not been any true leaders in our unit. So since my sophomore year our class has been the last set of true leaders. The leader I was given to look up to that year had no idea what she was doing. She was given that position because she kissed ass right. She wasn't given that position based off of her ability. So every time something went wrong or we didn't follow orders we thought were unlawful she went crying to Sgt. Major that we weren't listening to her and we were being mean to her. She did not have the ability to be a leader. There are people who are leaders and those that are followers.
I have always been told I was a leader and every since I have been in ROTC I have not been allowed to be a leader. I may not have authority over people that are higher rank than me, but they follow me because they respect me and they know that I am doing the right thing. I would never tell a person to do something that would harm them or make them a bad person in the end. I have learned my command voice since my freshman year that that is how a Marine commands, they command from their stomach and not their voice. Every Marine I have heard command commands the same way I do. There are also some people who are in positions that to me are not leaders, like our Sgt. Major. He was given that position because he knows how to kiss ass right. He has no ability to command. He listens to the seniors because he learned to respect us since our Sophomore year. So how can he get this position and still be listening to us. You are telling me that I should be setting the example when I see my Sgt. Major over here fraternizing in uniform when he was given 5-6 warnings not to fraternize out of uniform much less in uniform in front of LE 1's. You demoted others for fraternizing out of uniform, so why wasn't he demoted. There is no morale left in this unit. The unit used to be a family
