2 bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide, 1 tube rack.
To ensure full safety of this experiment we had to look at what we were doing and see how we could ensure things run smoothly. Because we were using H2O2 eye protection was a must because any contact with eye can cause serious damage. Also we must make sure the cork bora and scalpel are used on a tile and not on our hands when cutting the paper. We must remove all bags and blazers that could get in the way or cause an accident in the gangways.
To collect our data we will be measuring the amount of oxygen produced from the reaction, by letting it pass through a tube and let it displace the water in the measuring cylinder, which starts out at 10ml3. Then after 5 minutes we will remove the tube from the cylinder and then turn the cylinder up out of the water and seeing how much water has been displaced out of 10ml3. From the equation at the start we knew that this reaction will produce H2O, this will stay in the boiling tube but the oxygen will pass down the tube and up into the cylinder as tiny bubbles which will hopefully displace the water there.
To get clear results, and accurate conclusions from the experiment we feel that at least 5 different concentrations should be used and each one done three times.
