Sir Isaac Newton

Isaac Newton's accomplishments to scientific development is remarkable to say the least. A textbook name, Newton still opens the minds of historians and scientists alike. A man of religion, mathematics, physics, and astrology, his broad knowledge of sciences has bettered mankind.
Isaac Newton was born on Christmas day, 1643 in Woolsthorpe England to a relatively wealthy family of farmers. Although his family was very prosperous, they were uneducated and could not write. The next 15 years of his life he lived with his family attending free schools and working. In 1661 Newton enrolls at Trinity College Cambridge to study law. This is where Newton's thirst for knowledge was first born. His interests in mathematics began in 1663 with the reading of an astrology book at a fair in Cambridge. He soon found out that he could not understand the complicated mathematics in it. He now saw a new respect for science and math. In the summer of 1665 the black plague hit Europe forcing Trinity College to close. Newton then moved back home for the next to two years to do some independents studying and set revolutionary advances to the areas of physics, optics, mathematics, and astronomy.
Two of his most famous observations have to deal with gravity and the passage of light through a prism. His first observations on gravity comes from the famous story of seeing an apple fall from a tree. He was the first documented person to come to the conclusion that it fell because the earth attracted it. Isaac's love of nature drove him to explore all the vast possibilities that make her so wonderful. His second famous discovery was that a prism split white light into colored lights. When Newton first bought the prism, he was not looking to find scientific significance in it, rather he was just "celebrating the phenomena of colors."
