The goal is to free mankind of disease and end needless human suffering. This is achieved through applied genomic research in the feilds of medicine. Indeed "the genetic revolution has the potential to transform medicien from an enterprise concerned mostly with end stage disease to one the more often predicts and prevents" ("Genes and Ethics" 1). This grandiouse goal is attainable with structured gene anaylisis and genomic mapping to determine a person's susepptibility to disease.
