a certain physical position, one is in essence creating a state of mind, and the state of mind reinforces/makes natural the position. The lotus position, in which the legs are crossed over each other on to the opposing thighs, symbolizing the oneness of duality; a very important idea for understanding Buddhism philosophy. The back should be perpendicular in every way to the ground, the head should be tilted slightly down and the hands should be in the 'cosmic murder'. This position "is a perfect expression of your Buddha nature"(26). if one slumps, one's mind will slump and they will not exist in the now. This position is not simply a method to attain enlightenment, it is enlightenment, it is the goal of the practice.
