Throughout the course of the semester we have talked about many subjects that deal with our society. Legalizing drugs, social classes, homosexual marriage, but there is one subject that we have talked about that creates a problem with me, legalizing prostitution. Prostitutes have been around since the beginning of time. They are talked about in the Old Testament and it is even said that Jesus Christ is a descendent of a prostitute and is often termed the "oldest profession"(MacKinnon, 2). Since the early days of creation prostitution has been outlawed and thought wrong by many people. Prostitution has survived throughout all these years and now it is a heavy crime if a person is caught with a prostitute.
             There have been many people that agree with legalizing prostitution and some that argue that prostitution is wrong, immoral, and a person should not have to lower themselves to that standard of life style. "Prostitution is commonly known as sex in exchange for money or other material benefits" (O' Connell Davidson, 9). No matter how poor the person is or how bad they need the money a person should never choose prostitution as a career because it is very unhealthy. People should never "entertain" or go with a prostitute because the person does not know if she is carrying any diseases. Sure she/he says they don't have a disease but when you go home and have sex with your spouse and a couple days later when you found out they were lying that person just gave a disease to a healthy person just because they wanted a little action elsewhere and it will be the persons fault not the prostitutes for "entertaining" them.
             To the common person prostitution is wrong and immoral. I took a poll and asked ten students three questions about prostitution. The questions were "What do you think about prostitution", "How would you feel if a family member chose this as a career", ...
