As you pass thru the Quad around noontime on a bright sun-drenched day it is not unusual to spot a collection of students chatting and soaking up the sunshine. It is a pleasant reprieve from a busy class and work schedule to stop and observe the different people going about their daily routines. . It is always a joy to see the diversity of all the different cultures on campus mingle so favorably in the Quad Just like blood flowing softly thru a beating heart students at some point in time go through the Quad.
At first glance the eyes notice the concrete sidewalks crisscrossing the four patches of grass about the size of a football field. The grass is showing signs of the harsh sunlight and the record heat. Brown patches are noticeably along with some paths students have worn going from building to building. Under a young maple tree is found the telltale signs of morning doves' feathers. Near the concrete and stone trashcans is candy for the eyes, pretty pink and yellow flowers. Lounging around the picnic tables' students can be seen talking to friends. It is not unusual to see faculty enjoying the warmth of the sun as they eat their lunch. The cement benches on a nice sunny day provide the harried student a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of a hectic schedule.
Ears are also assaulted with an occasional shout of an eager student trying to get the attention of a friend a block away. On this day a cd player whose earphones are wrapped around a young guys neck is serenading all who pass by on their way to class. Passing by some groups of students it is not unusually to hear foreign languages being spoke. Cell phones ringing are a daily occurrence in the Quad. It is not bizarre to hear seven or eight different phone conversations going on at the same time. Along with the laughter and the general hum of many conversations being carried on a car horn...
