The term organization is given different meanings by different authors based upon their individual concepts:
             As a process. Viewed as a basic management process, an organization undoubtedly serves as a tool of utmost importance to the successful execution of managerial tasks and the attainment of company goals and objectives. It is thus a vehicle through which action is carried and, as such in a large measure determines the effectiveness with which major decisions are made and policies formulated, and practices are followed.
             In a very specific sense, the manner in which a business concern is organized exerts a profound impact on the primary responsibilities of those charged with the task of managing the enterprise.
             As Principles. Most infrequently, there are those who look upon organization solely in terms of charts or consisting of boxes and lines with titles (designations) clearly inscribed. However, this is a narrow concept of looking at it. Needless to say, charts are only a convenient means of showing in clear light an organizational structure which is illustrated in a graphic form. Indeed, the most important aspect of organization, although less obvious is the process itself which involves a recognition of the functions to be carried out, the relationships among those functions, the flow of authority and responsibility to carry out the tasks involved.
             The utter lack of understanding or appreciation of the value of sound organization to the successful management of a business enterprise explains in part why organization is not a popular subject on the part of some top level management people. This being the case, the result is the ensuing confusion among decision-making executives, overlap or omission of important tasks as well as waste of manpower and executive talent.
