The Night the Ghost Got In is a classic example of how a little thing can turn into a very large problem. After James had heard the sound downstairs, he and his brother Herman decided to find out what it was. All of the commotion in the house seems to have awoken their mother who then tried to figure out what was going on. There must have been an enormous amount of robberies in the neighborhood at that time because her first assumption was that it must be burglars. She then immediately tried to call the police.
The only problem with that was the was down the stairs where the burglars supposedly were. James tried to convince her that it was not burglars. She would not hear a word of it and instead opened the window to shout for help. Their neighbors responded to her loud calls hat broke there bedroom window by her throwing a shoe. They then called the Police.
They arrived moments later and was banging on the front door. James tried to go down to let them in, but his mother would not let him claiming that he would be killed if he did. Soon enough they managed to get in the house and started to search everywhere. Finally they said that there was no one in the house, and that they must have run away. The mother then claimed that there were two or three of them, when suddenly they heard a noise in the attic and figured it must be them. They received a not so pleasant surprise when they found it was the grandfather. He managed to grab a hold of one of their guns and shoot a cop in the shoulder. They found no signs of robbery and all of this commotion happened because of something that the kids heard. And that's the night the ghost got in.
