European Renaissance

             The European Renaissance represented a departure from the civilization of the Middle Ages in many ways. The Renaissance was a period of European history in which many drastic changes happened. The Renaissance was a time of new beliefs and inventions. People of the European Renaissance looked at politics, art, and language.
             The Renaissance was drastically different from the Middle Ages. During the Middle Ages the church held most of the power and its economy was largely based on agriculture. Learning and exploration was almost put to a halt. During the Renaissance people stopped fearing as much and their curiosity for new things help them venture out and explore. New schools and universities became more and more common. The Renaissance gave way to new forms of art.
             During the Renaissance, artists were no longer regarded as mere artisans, as they had been to the Middle Ages. Many artisans merged mathematics with their art in order to become more precise in their measurements and to make sure and object was both rational and proportionate. A new kind of paint called oil paint was used. This allowed the artist too create texture, mix colors, and allow more time to fix imperfections if needed.
             The Renaissance as opposed to the Middle Ages had an effect on society to where the people began to get interested in politics. People became interested in the world outside their towns. Religion especially changed durian the Renaissance to a great extent. During the Middle Ages the Catholic Church was the only church in Europe. This was not the case at the time of the European Renaissance.
