Against Trafficking of Women and children

Trafficking can be defined as all acts involved in the transport and harboring of humans against their will or under false promises of employment and their sale within national or across international borders. Trafficking act that is not a new phenomenon to our society has a target group. They are women and children. In many less economically developed nations, women and children are marginalized with low level of education. So with a great hope that they will get a good job, they leave their own countries. However, normally women and children find themselves working for prostitution, sweatshops and domestic servants. Even though this problem will not be able to be solved at once, we should at least try to find most effective measures.
Number of women and children trafficked to other countries are keep increasing. To deal with this, we should have trained public policemen and border officers to be prepared to deal with any trafficking near the border areas. Also, we should now double the current ten-year maximum prison sentence, and create new trafficking crimes with severe penalties.
Many women and children tend to look for jobs in other countries, as they don¡¯t have many opportunities inside a society. So we should encourage free and compulsory education systems in nations that have not done so. This will expand women¡¯s employment opportunities and will prepare them for overseas employment.
Also, we can use various forms of media such as newspaper, Internet, T.V etc to run campaigns raising awareness about trafficking of women and children.
