Modern Morality 101

             Over the past few generations, moral and family values have greatly decreased. As kids grow up in modern times, they are not being educated nearly enough about family values and the right or wrong ways of things. For instance, quite a few parents divorce after having children nowadays, leaving many single parents who must work hard and take on both parenting roles. This makes it harder to set a good example for their kids and teach proper moral and family values. Yet, the older generations blame modern pop culture for this lack of value. This shows that few really understand the real issue at hand.
             The real issue isn't really about censorship or editing the bad out of society. The phrase, "All things in Moderation", describes the faultiness of this approach. With the good must come bad. No, the real issue is not showing the goodness of society. So instead of focusing all the attention towards the wrongs, we should really be educating kids about the wrongs and the rights of all things. This can best be performed by not depriving children of the ideas and images which the older generations deem negative. As with all youth, rebellion is a common result of the banishment of popular or sought after wants, no matter how negative or positive. Not only that, but if we deprive the children of future generations of the negatives of society, they won't learn about the negatives of the past and present, and will therefore repeat them, or ignore them. "Those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it," right? The one thing which the youth of all generations can not stand to lose is pop culture. As with all generations, pop culture tends to be the main source for youth learning, not only negative but also positive.
