I think that we need to invest in innovation and education. We need to use this opportunity to invest in the future, in our future generations. This is a golden opportunity for a step towards future growth in our economy and community.
I like the third approach best. This plan works to reform or tax structure and our building codes to remove barriers to private investments. It taps into a wealth of money that is available if we remove certain restrictions. We must prepare our children, our future workers and consumers, for employment in regional businesses. These children need to be ready to start their own businesses when they leave our education system. Small business drives this economy, and our children of the future will own and work at those businesses. This plan will prepare them adequately.
Opponents of this plan would argue that evonomic growth will not occure quickly enough. We must stop thinking in the "now, and begin thinking ahead. We might be able to institute an economic plan that would produce some economic growth now. However, this growth would have no base and would rise and just as quickly fall. That would not solve our problem.
I would add to this plan a bigger investment in higher education institutions in our area. With a higher level of prestige and academic excellence in the region, top-notch scholars and professors will be attracted to our city. This influx of innovation and intelligence can only benefit our city.
Individuals in this city can write to their paper, the KC Star, to address this issue. They can also go out and vote "yes" on the levies that come up every year on the ballot for more tax money for our schools. We need to show more fiscal responsibility towards our future entrepreneurs.
This innovative plan is the direction that Kansas City needs to be headed, not just on this issue, but on all its policies. Education and entrepreneur
