She probably doesn't remember me, but I remember her. She told me that my structure was too small and I was never going to develop. She made me feel like a baby when I wanted to be a teenager and forced me to act like an adult when I wanted to cry like a baby. She reminded me that my glasses didn't fit my face, and that my hair was often times scraggily and seemingly uncombed. Middle school is a period that many people, including myself, would like to forget. No one wants to remember being harassed or not feeling good enough compare to the rest of the crowd, but were we all that bad? As I reflect only my middle school years, I wasn't as horrible as I thought that I was. Sure, I was too skinny and wore glasses that never fit my face, but until I met that particular girl, it didn't seem to be a crime. Besides, I'm successful now. I have a supportive family, I'm president of my organization, I get good grades, I have a great boyfriend, I am in a field that I love. . .I'm not doing bad at all. So what makes me and many others look back at middle school and still have sour thoughts? Pre-teen and teenage girls act in aggressive ways that often times go unnoticed, but not forgotten, and without proper intervention, these girls may have the ability to mentally destroy other girls straight into womanhood.
