If guns were no longer sold to anyone but police and other officials, then the amount of criminals possessing guns would decrease in great numbers, although there would still be guns available on the street and already in circulation, there would not be more "fuel added to the fire" so to speak. A criminal is going to be much more hesitant in confronting a victim if the victim can either get away, or possibly defend themselves, than if the criminal has a gun, where the victim has no real defense mechanism other than hoping to escape unharmed. This is why Desuka feels that handguns are nothing but a thorn in societies side, because their only real use is to inflict harm on others, and must be outlawed from our society in order to try and eliminate the violent criminal element.
             Desuka's idea of outlawing handguns from the general public is one that in its theory is good and productive, but the reality of the situation is much different. If handguns were outlawed the only difference between what we have now, is that an even larger black market for weapons
