Last year in my drama class we had to do a scene from a play. My friend
             and I chose to do "Night, Mother". At first I was a little apprehensive
             because I would be playing a suicidal daughter, but I came to realize that it
             was a good play. In the play no one believes that she is going to commit
             suicide and yet she keeps telling everyone about how she is preparing to do
             it. After I read the play I found that I could strangely relate to her, because
             if I was going to commit suicide I would have done it the same exact way
             Her mom is trying to block off all the bad in her life and just be happy
             on the outside. Jessie doesn't deny that she is unhappy and doesn't feel
             that she should live any more. There is so much irony in the play that
             almost makes it funny; such as when she just nonchalantly says that she
             needs towels because she doesn't want to get the floor dirty. Jessie doesn't
             want to bother anyone or get in anybody's way. She wants to take care of
             things before she commits suicide.
             I think a lot more people that would commit suicide would do it this
             way and think the way she does. I think suicide is a big issue and is
             happening a lot more in our generation. Everyone has known someone that
             has committed suicide or they know someone that had someone commit
             suicide. It is a big issue that affects a lot of young people in this day in a
             age. We need to be more aware of it and be more open to the subject.
