In the Meno Plato and Socrates have two very different distinguished ideas about virtue and knowledge; however the question remains what is virtue and what is knowledge?
             Plato relates virtue to how well someone can function in a society. This relates to our education system a great deal because there are so many different people that are attending school and some people believe from a very early age that they are set up in our education system to play a certain role in society. The school systems have different levels of classes, similar to the classes of society. The more gifted children are placed in honors classes, the average children are put in regular classes, and the children who learn slower are placed in remedial classes. This system is believed to give children an idea of what their role in society will be. A gifted or average child knows that he or she has the ability to go to college and choose a profession that is very prestigious, whereas a child in a remedial classroom may feel a sense of worthlessness and will never push themselves to go off to college and therefore settle for a job that doesn't require a degree and probably doesn't pay well.
             I feel that this is not true. Unfortunately there are some children that aren't as smart as others, but the school does not bring them down. The people around them must be encouraging. It is sad that some teachers teach because they have the summers off or they think it is easy, and it is also sad that there are parents that pay no attention what so ever to their children's school work. These are the people that children need the most because they are so influenced by them. Children need encouragement so they don't feel labeled.
