In Bulgaria there is not yet a firm practice in the creating of ethical codes in the research and the professional communities, but on the other hand on more and more occasions can be observed the adoption of already created codes by the colleagues in West Europe and USA. A good example for this is the Bulgarian psychiatrical association, which still has not drawn up its own ethical code. This is the reason why it has accepted as a basis for the professional ethics the established principles and norms, laid in the adopted in 1996 by the World psychiatrical association Declaration from Madrid, which is latest development of the ideas or the Hawaiian declaration. This is a result of increasing efforts BPA to improve the ethical standards of the profession; it constantly reminds the companies and their membership in the association means that they should act in accordance with
the general principles put forward in the Declaration as minimal ethical requirement for practicing the psychiatrical profession.
What are the ethical codes in science?
A code means a law or a system of laws. But the ethical codes in science are not judicial laws and obligatory norms. This confronts the autonomy of the researcher and the liberty of the science research work. The ethical codes are voluntary will- expressions, statements of duty- consciousness, of a collective moral position, concerning every member of the community without compelling and limiting the personal freedom and the freedom of choice.
