ce and getting local and possibly national recognition, consumers will realize the need and importance of alternatively fueled vehicles. Slowly consumers would purchase E85 powered vehicles and the stations that supported us and were able to receive the state grant would be a step ahead of many other stations, and will have less out of their pocket expenses.
Statement of the Problem: The problem to be addressed is the lack of availability of E85 fuel in the state of Indiana. Consumers are not going to purchase ethanol vehicles if they can only refuel at one station in the state of Indiana. So, therefore, more stations are needed to sell E85 fuel. With a grant from fuel corporations, we would gain recognition for ethanol-fueled vehicles, and they would get their return by obtaining a state-funded grant to convert their station to E85.
Argonne national labs has itself broken the race down into a number of different areas of technical interest. These include 1) electric vehicles with both conventional and advanced batteries, 2) hybrid electric vehicles, 3) ethanol-powered vehicles, 4) single passenger vehicles and 5) solar powered vehicles. On top of these technically oriented divisions, the race is further subdivided between production and prototype vehicles. The production division allows only vehicles that are produced by companies intent on marketing their vehicle as a product. Vehicles such as the Toyota Prius entered the race in the production division and represent the forefront of marketable vehicular technology that achieves lower emissions and higher fuel economy. The prototype division is limited to vehicles that are experimental and tends to include entries from universities and private individuals.
Our team would enter the race in the prototype division in any of the 5 categories available in the race. The decision of which category to enter is one of the general problems the group will have to solve. The ch...
