Recently, there has been many discussion about the importance of studying embryonic stem cells. In the essay by Anna Quindlen "A New Look, An Old Battle." argues that
"Stem-cell research is typically done by using frozen embryos left over from in vitro fertilization. If these embryos were placed in the womb, they might eventually implant, become a fetus, then a child. Unused, they are the earliest undifferentiated collection of cells made by the joining of the egg and sperm, no larger than the period at the end of this sentence." (185)
However, Judie Brown of the American Life League can refer to these embryos as "tiniest person," which mean in other words by studying the embryonic cell is preventing a baby from having a taste of this wonderful world! More seriously, some parent might think that this action is just the same as killing there own baby. But no one will think that those cells might help to save many people's life? Except those who discover their young daughter or girlfriend is pregnant might think in a different way. From another point of view, many scientists think studying embryonic stem cell is just science not abortion. Because this can be used to treat the disease in our body that involves those specific cell types. As we all know, many human being are dieing everyday with some kind of disease such as diabetes and Parkinson's disease. Therefore, many scientists believe that by studying the embryonic cell can have a great influence over millions of American!
Many scientists think an embryonic cell are important and is worth it on studying. From an internet article "Embryonic Stem Cells" by the University of Wisconsin –Madison, tells us what embryonic stem cells actually are and the importance of it.
Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are unlike any specific adult cell. However, they have the ability to form any adult cell. Because undifferentia...
