Augustine's conversion over a thousand years ago can be very closely related to teenagers today. Augustine's conversion can be related to much more easier than Paul's conversion because it was more developmental and was long, filled with struggles, drawn- out and gradual. Augustine was also an intense young man who wanted more out of life, just like the many teenagers of today.
             Most teenagers today, when they are struggling in coming to God, do not take a straight path. Just like Augustine did, the teenagers of today are attempting to find meaning in life by being experimental with different religions or cults. Augustine experimented with the Manicheans, a Persian dualist cult that believed in two competing gods. Teenagers today do not usually go to too great of an extreme as Augustine had done, but they do usually experiment with a few of the main religions of the world and talk to different members of the organizations until they finally surrender to God's call. After a while, and with his studies of the Greek philosophy of Plato, Augustine saw through the Persian dualist cult and abandoned it. Augustine's mother, Monica, was also a big help towards his conversion, for she worked hard to make sure that he was on the right path, just like many parents and loved ones do for teenagers today.
             Many people today are trying to straighten out their lives but find that they cannot control some of their desires, just like Augustine found himself unable to deal with his own sexual desires and drives. To get past this, all Augustine needed was a little bit of inspiration which he found by reading a passage in the Bible. That is probably all that people need, a little bit of inspiration to get themselves through a tough part of their life to come to God.
