he joined a liberal group with the French ambassador at it's head. In 1847, the liberalization of the press in Sardinia prompted Cavour to start a newspaper which he called, Il Risorgimento. He was elected to parliament as the minister of agriculture that same year, and, in 1852, he became prime minister. His first major show of nationalism lay in his meeting in Plombières.
