Tanning, the process in which sun activates the pigment in your skin which produces a bronze color called a tan. We think that with the new scientific technologies we can have the real look of the tan without the harmful rays of the sun. When we see these products in the store, we think that everyone who has sunbathed in their life would have switched over. When you ask people that are dark what they had to do to achieve that tan, they say they tan indoors. Even though most scientists believe that over a prolonged period of time in the sun the skin begins to weaken and double your chances at skin cancer. People can still go to any beach and see plenty of people baking in the sun. So the question that still remains is do these times in the sun cause a higher risk peoples chances at getting cancer? Tanning is very beneficial to most people but studies have shown that over a prolonged period of time people can develop skin cancer.
             Many people who tan just think that when you apply the lotion and climb into the tanning bed, they are tan and that is it. The tanning process is quite interesting. Then special cells called melanocytes are exposed to UV-B and they produce, melanin, the pigment in which makes them tan. But the other type of light UV-A; the melanin oxidizes or darkens. The only way to keep the tan longer and look good is to moisturize and keep the skin supple and smooth. Many people just think that
