Catcher in the Rye

             Catcher in the Rye.
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is an adventure through the mind of an angry, disturbed and confused teenager named Holden Caulfield. After getting expelled from Pencey, Holden takes a journey to New York City. Holden had bought a red hunting hat before his journey. Holden is also very fascinated with museums. It was a place which reminded Holden of his elementary school days. The museum is like Allie who will never change and Jane who will not change because he never visits for fear that she will change. Though, he does visit the museum and realizes that though things change, he can get used to.

The hat acts like a mask for Holden, which makes him invisible to the people he dislikes. When he wears the hat, he has more confidence and courage to challenge those who he sees as untrue and phony. This hat does not change it stays the same. Holden's stories and mindset change each time he puts this hat on. This is just like the museum.
