The legalization of drugs would have much less harmful effects than those that are generated by keeping them illegal; it is the best solution for most drugs-related problems our world is currently facing. Although drugs in general have some bad characteristics, nevertheless they also have several good ones too. Legalization of drugs would basically minimize their negative effects on their user and society in general.
Are drugs evil? They induce the feeling of happiness within their users, but at the same time they are hazardous to their health. But does that make drugs evil? If your answer is yes, than an action such as climbing a mountain should also be "evil" because it's extremely risky, as well as having serious health consequences due to the low temperature and the decreasing pressure. In my opinion, this argument is a false one; climbing a mountain can be considered an adventure but definitely not evil. Even if someone argued that drugs have their effects on the society, unlike climbing a mountain. The reply would be that the effects on the society are caused by the "abuse" of drugs. So a person who abuses drugs and harms himself and the society is the one responsible not the drugs he is using. Thus, drugs don't have effects on the society.
So, we can see that drugs are not evil simply because they are drugs; they're "evil" because society chooses to depict them as an evil element due solely to their addictiveness. So, should we prohibit all things that, if used badly, would have bad consequences? Of course not, because then we would prohibit things like coffee and junk food, which does not make any sense whatsoever since these things are not of an evil nature.
