Stones in his Pockets

What's A Black comedy Turns Green
Welcome to Hollywood's version of Ireland! A happy place where the grass is always greener on the other side! The plot of this amusing tale takes place around two local Irishmen who start work on a film set as extras, this film set is temporary home to the smashing Caroline Giovanni who is one of Hollywood's most famous actors.
But their dreams are shattered when they find out that Hollywood, like everyone else just wants to exploit them. Then when tragedy strikes and a close friend commits suicide in a river by drowning himself with 'Stones in his Pockets.'
The play was set on a proscenium stage, which was bare, except for a row of boots to represent the changing of the characters and two chairs plus a table on wheels. The minimal set allowed the characters to change their location and part very quickly. The genre is of a comic drama with themes that include exploitation and commercialism, as the play explores how the filmmakers don't care about Ireland or any of the inhabitants they just want to get their film done by the deadline and in their budget.
The costumes were non-specific modern ones, which were appropriate for their characters. The two actors were in the same basis of costume throughout the play, changing from a variety of different characters, the most common costume was a casual dinner jacket with black trousers and smart shoes or a dark coloured shirt with the same trousers as described before. For example, Ashley the second assistant director wore the shirt with trousers were as Caroline's Bodyguard wore the suit and trousers along with the two main actors.
The lights, a very important aspect of a film, although during the play the lights are highlighted to point out certain dramatic moments for instance when it shows the extras being filmed the spotlight appears on them from the front as if it was a real film being made.
