Othello is a play about loyalty. Discuss
             In William Shakespeare's "Othello", loyalty is portrayed through the actions, images and language of the characters: Othello, Desdemona, Iago and Emilia, the contrast of appearance and reality and between the loyalty of the men and women characters of the play. Loyalty is respected within the society of the characters and is created through love, trust, respect, faithfulness and honesty.
             Throughout the play, the love relationship of Othello and Desdemona is strong, and Othello relies on this love and Desdemona's loyalty.
             Desdemona married Othello, the moor, without her father's knowledge. Othello was accused of corrupting her by Brabantio, her father, but was so confident in her love and loyalty towards him that he offers his life if she said that she did not love him:
             "If you do find me foul in her report,
             The trust, the office I do hold of you,
             Not only take away, but let your sentence
             Even fall upon my life." (Act 1, scene iii, line 117-120)
             Ironically, when Othello doubts Desdemona's loyalty and love, he persecutes her but after knowing the truth he also kills himself too.
             Desdemona is truly a loyal person, but was also too naive and innocent and discovered the cause of Othello's rage before it was too late. Nevertheless, she was devoted, faithful and loyal towards Othello to the extent that she takes the blame when Othello murders her.
             "O, who hath done this deed?"
             Commend me to my kind lord..." (Act 5, scene ii, lines 125-127)
             Her language towards Othello was always respectful - "my lord", "my dear Othello".
             When Othello stripped Cassio of his rank as Lieutenant, Desdemona remained loyal, and helped him to get his position back by talking to Othello. She is loyal to everyone, which was the key to Iago's manipulation in order to make Othel
