In Los Angeles County, there are so many families without a home. Although there are plenty of places available out there, the cost of rent is so high that anyone with an average wage job could not survive on their own especially with a family. People search for jobs in LA County and find that majority of these positions require experience or college degrees to apply. The welfare system does not provide enough income for families to survive in a high priced society. The system only provides just enough to get buy with some food and maybe a bill or two. When someone decides to start a homeless shelter and transitional housing, they receive a ton of challenges. As more transitional housing programs open, homeless families will have more of a chance to become healthy and independent again.
             My personal goal is to open a transitional housing program for homeless families in Los Angeles County. My city of interest is Long Beach, California or a surrounding area. My main focus is helping homeless families with a stable place to live without any initial charges. They will be housed in their own fully furnished apartment for approximately 6 to 24 months. They will be provided food for the first 2 months when they sign an agreement with the program agreeing to follow all rules and work to get financial assistance so that they can continue to maintain food for their home. They will be required to donate a set low rate while staying in the program while also saving money for the future.
             Before this transitional housing can be created, there are procedures I must go through. I will need to form a developing committee consisting of about 5 or 6 people.
