why me?" Joe Black responds with, "because you're the best instructor Bill! Who's more powerful, intelligent, and wiser than Bill Parish?"
The introduction of Joe Black to the family was quite awkward in the sense that Parish knew they would not understand why this stranger, who Parish names Joe Black, is staying at their house. Black brings some humor to the movie by acting abnormally to worldly things. Susan questions Black about that morning and gets mad at him for his forgetfulness. Susan is unaware that the man eating dinner with her family is a stranger, a different person from that morning.
Although, Susan isn't the only one being disturbed in this scene Drew (Weber), Susan's boyfriend, notices that Susan talks and looks at Joe differently, as if there is something between them. In another family dinner scene the same thing happened but this time Drew told Susan, "Susan, I just don't like the way he looks at you or the way he talks to you! And vice versa!" Then Susan replied with, "I like the way he looks at me and talks to me.. And vice versa!"
Some of the most important things I review in a movie are the director's sense of camera work. In this scene Pitt is shot Dutch angled, the shot is angled; Joe is standing in the next room listing to the fight.
