             In the novel, "Brave New World", intelligence is not considered as anything special. In fact, having intelligence is considered appalling in a way. Intelligence in the dystopia is basically limited to the things that do not challenge them or make them think about other things. Different techniques of brainwashing was used to make the society believe that intelligence was nothing but boring hard work that required effort. This technique was not only used to make life simple and enjoyable, but it was also to protect the World Controllers from being overruled by somebody. Controllers in Brave New World knew that with intelligence, people think for themselves as well as differently from others.
             Along with sleep teaching, otherwise known as hypnopaedia, mind control was also used to manipulate the society. Different classes in the society were brainwashed differently since the time of their birth. Yet all were programmed to think that they were all special and that they all contributed to the society in some way. Limited to this motto, people are not able to think outside of what they already know but instead showing them to the things Controllers only want them to see. By using this technique, Controllers have control over all knowledge and intelligence that the people obtain during these processes. Not only that the Controllers feel that with intelligence human beings may be able to think for themselves, they believe that they would be capable of corrupting the society in a "bad" way. The Controllers think that intelligence is the most desirable thing in a human being because it is something different from their ordinary society. In that society, intelligence is basically taught using hypnopaedia and mind control which limits the things that the people learn. This, however, does not expose them to other things...
