The Great Gatsby

             In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, women play the role as scantily clad objects subjected to male distortion at will. It seems that women are just non opinionated, easily persuaded, zombie- like tools which emotions amplify off the persuasion of the male sexuality. I don't know if it's just me that noticed it, but in this novel, rich women are snobs and wait around all day for someone to service them. They literally bathe in money everyday and enjoy the lust livelihood of a parallel paradise; a dichotomy if you will. There's a side of the rich life, masked by elegance and embellished in power, that no one sees, which comes with seduction, scandals, and lies. A secret life to the outside, lived by the unfaithful, it's enough to make me sick.
             Tom Buchanan, the "Hollywood Big Shot" if you will, sleeps around his wife, and yet has no shame. It sickens me that many rich people of that time would commit one of the 10 most shameful sins, yet have no shame. For instance in the novel when Miss Baker was talking to Nick about the phone call Tom had received during dinner: p.19 "Why-" she said hesitantly, "Tom's got some woman in New York"
             "Got some woman?" Nick repeated blankly.
             That to me symbolizes that underneath all of the luxuriousness of wealth. These people are sick. It actually makes me wonder if humanity is safe at all from these monstrosities. My theory is, if you love someone, you need to be faithful to them for as long as you love them. If you don't love someone, tell them and they'll understand. If not (which seems to be the case with these snobby bastards) then it was really never meant to be. The women however are very shallow and seem to have an IQ of no more than a pinto bean.
