Images of three headed daemon beasts doing battle with big, muscular guys heaving swords is the usual things a person thinks of when they hear slaying a monster, but this is not the only type of monster that can be slain. Modern social and ethical problems and issues could be consider monsters to be thwarted. These monsters all contribute to the downfall of society or humanity in same way, shape, or form. For example, Disease, Famine, and the misuse of the word ignorant are all plagues on humanity and need to be stopped. These "monsters" are slain by the doctors, humanitarian, the superpowers of the world and a dictionary.
             Diseases around the world kill millions of people each year and there is no way to bring about an end to all of them. Doctors, and scientists and the equivalent of the sword totting mad man. They use their minds and expertise to develop cures for diseases and try their best to save as many lives as possible. A good example of this is the total annihilation of the small pox disease. Doctors have eliminated this disease and the only remnants of it are in vaccines and in biological weapons. These people are not the only one responsible for battling this problem, the job rest on many shoulders, one of which being the patients themselves. It is their responsibility the take the medication and follow the course of treatment. If the patient neglects to do this they may be responsible for creating mutant strains of the disease and cause more deaths. The battle against disease is a joint effort and will surely last for a long time.
