This is peculiar to the reader as they are meant to be Lesley's friends, Yet here it is reinforced that heroin is their main and only priority.

             Visceral, sublime, subtle and outrageous, insanity and sanity compete for subsistence in a place of dying and fighting for life where life or living is anathema. The main characters appear to be strangely aware of this and realise they use their so called friends, yet are inclined to hold on to this. As their relationship with those in similar predicaments appears to be the only normal relationship in their life they can hold on to.
