             A truck carrying a chain gang runs off the road because another truck blinds the driver and gets sideswipe. Only two prisoners make it out Joker and Noah. Max leads the search for the missing men. Noah is black and Joker is white. They both head off into the forest trying to get free. Max does not want to use dogs at this point; they must be kept on a leash. The runaways try to break the chain that binds them together by smashing it with a rock it does not work. Their having their first fight they get over it and start to go north. By now the sheriff has started the search for the men.
             Every challenge that the prisoners face is twice as hard because they are chained together. They have to work as a team, which did not happen most of the time. They can¡t ever say thank you and they say that they are going to kill one another but later they get over it. By now they are hungry and they kill a frog and cook it. They talk as they eat in front of the fire. Noah does not like to be called ¡§boy¡. It¡s raining and they wake up to start running more, they come to a road and a wagon goes by so they jump into a clay pit. They were trying to get out of the clay pit. It is a hard task when you are chained to another person. After they struggled for some time with the chain they finally get out of the clay pit.
             Joker hurts his hand so Noah puts mud on his hand to help it, but its bad. The dogs do not want to cross the river that the prisoners did so Max has to go around. The prisoners have a 12-hour head start and the detour makes it another 2 on that. The prisoners find a small town so they wait for the town to go to sleep. They talk about their life and whatever to pass the time. When the town people are asleep they break into the general store to find some tools to get the chains off of them. They knock over a shel
