             General Purpose Statement: To persuade.
             Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that we should have a nationwide program to teach CPR to children.
             Central Idea Statement: To persuade my audience that we should have a nationwide program to teach CPR to children by first explaining why we need to teach CPR to children, second by discussing how we can incorporate CPR training in schools, and finally by explaining how mandatory CPR training would benefit everyone.
             Just a few weeks shy of her 12th birthday, Rianna Lara had no plans of becoming a hero. In fact, the biggest plan that Rianna had on October 12th of this year was to drop off her sister at an eight year olds birthday pool party. However, a hero is exactly what Rianna became when she notice a commotion near the pool and went to investigate. There she discovered an 8 year old girl pulling an unconscious and blue William Song from the swimming pool. Miss Lara immediately began administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, better known as CPR. Since that day many people have speculated as to what would have happened to William if Rianna had not acted so quickly. The fact is William would have died without the technique that was offered by Rianna Lara. CPR is a lifesaving skill that should be learned by all, since heart disease is the number one killer in the world, with 60-70% of all heart attack victims dying before they even make it to the hospital. Teaching CPR to children allows them to intervene and possibly save the life of another. So tonight I am going to try to persuade you that we should have a nationwide program to teach CPR to children by first explaining why we need to teach CPR to children, second by discussing how we can incorporate CPR training in schools, and finally by
