In the book "The Giver" it talks about government control and suppression of its people. This, I feel, is a warning of what can happen if we do not remain active in our government through voting, holding of office, and many other choices that we are given. Throughout this paper, I will explain what I got from the book "The Giver" in what government can become if we do not put our voice out there.
             Government can take over our lives by taking away our basic rights and freedoms. We must be aware of what is going on in our government, and to question its authority to an extent. Without this, we could become a society run by a non-appointed council without our basic freedoms and rights. Thus becoming a "perfect society". In the Giver their government becomes a Council of Elder's which runs the whole society controlling every aspect of their lives, ranging from who lives and who dies, to what you eat at night. If this were to happen some good aspects would be, there would be no suffering, there would be no over population, there would be no starvation, there would be no social classes, there would be limited confusion, and basically there would be no worries. Would you truly be happy?
             This could be seen as a good thing or a bad thing. Some good aspects of this could be that there would be no segregation, no discrimination, no war, and basically, no worries. For the bad, I could go on forever, but I will condense it. You would have no choices. There are no personal possessions. You have no feelings and limited emotions. No one would know his or her mother or father. There is no love. There would be no control over any aspect of your life or your death. All this would be controlled and supervised by your government (this would be a bad thing.)
             Our founding father's made it very clear that revolution is sometimes necessary to keep our government, our government, and our pers...
