"I am. I think. I will," declares Equality claiming his independence. Equality is a character from the book Anthem, ruled by his totalitarianism government. Individualism is totally denied in society. Unlike today, friendship is forbidden because it leads to subversion. Independence is unacceptable. Conformity is the rule; everyone was expected to be a follower. I can relate to many aspects of the book Anthem.
             There are many aspects of this book that I can relate to. First of all there is the character Equality. Equality is a lost soul trying to find out what he was meant to do with the rest of his life. I, much like Equality, do not know what I am meant to do with the rest of my life, but there are some differences. I get to choose the pathway in which I want to go; I get to choose the lifestyle in which I want to live and I get to choose the career field I want to go into. Equality wanted to be part of the World Council of Scholars, but instead his life mandate is to be a Street Sweeper. Much like Equality I want to go into something prestigious and something that has to do with business where I can express myself through my intelligence and creativity. I can relate to Equality because I continue to discover things about my strengths, my weaknesses and the world. These three things continue to catch my attention and interest me to a point where I would want to spend the rest of my life pursuing them.
